Mike Galvin is a telecommunication engineer and specialist in broadband networks with 32 years of experience in BT. Mike has been a leader in providing the internet in the UK for the last 20 years and has extensive experience in leading large technology programms and working with both customers and the public sector. He has been responsible for the design, deployment, and management of some of the largest broadband networks in the UK. Mike was central to the rollout of “Broadband Britain” in the early 2000’s and a number of internet child protection initiatives.
Mike has held a number of Managing Director positions in BT plc, including overall responsibility for the rollout of BT’s fibre network, the delivery of the co-funded BDUK initiative with the public sector to deliver superfast internet to rural areas and management of BT’s Research Division. With over 15 years of experience working at a board level in technology research and innovation and in telecommunications, Mike has a wealth of experience in both fixed and mobile networks. Mike has an MSc in Telecommunication Engineering, and is a member of the IET and Fellow of the ITP. He formerly held non-executive positions with the UK Council for Child Internet Safety and with Nominet.
