ASSIA Announces DSL Expresse Software Suite with ATIS DSM Technical Report Compliance
Redwood City, Calif. - June 18, 2007 - ASSIA™, the world’s leader in Dynamic Spectrum Management of xDSL lines, announced today the commercial release of its new software package, ASSIA DSL Expresse™. DSL Expresse is the first commercial software package that conforms to Level I of the recently release ATIS Dynamic Spectrum Management Technical Report.
DSL Expresse is a suite of line and spectrum management tools that automatically monitors and optimizes entire DSL networks. Using the management interface described in the DSM TR, DSL Expresse automatically adjusts line parameters to improve DSL performance with no interruption of customer service. It also automatically identifies and classifies line troubles, enabling targeted response by the service provider and improving the efficiency of field personnel. Integrated into the DSL Providers Operations Support Systems (OSS) and Customer Care Centers with a flexible North Bound Interface, DSL Expresse supports the service provider’s specific workflows, loop inventory, and service models. By using DSL Expresse, DSL service providers can increase their revenue opportunities and reduce service cost dramatically.
The ATIS DSM technical Report (ATIS 0600007) provides the DSL industry with guidelines for the use of Dynamic Spectrum Management (DSM) to optimize DSL services. DSM techniques significantly improve the speed and stability of DSL services by managing interference and crosstalk, ensuring DSL’s continued competitiveness with other broadband access techniques. DSM is thus a key enabler for new broadband services such as DVD-quality IPTV. DSL Expresse is the first and only software to incorporate the DSM Report’s recommendations and provides the industry with the capability to enhance DSL service.
“The publication of the DSM TR provides the industry with the information needed to begin to deploy this critical tool,” says Peter Silverman, ASSIA’s director of standards who served as editor for the committee’s DSM effort.
ASSIA CEO and Chairman John Cioffi also noted, “The publication of the ATIS DSM Report also indicates the positive direction of the DSL industry towards an open interface for equipment-independent management and in particular validates DSM as the next wave of technology in the rapidly expanding worldwide DSL industry. ASSIA supports this open interface to benefit service providers, allowing all types of DSL equipment to be equally well managed.”
