ASSIA - DSL Solutions for Service Providers

ASSIA Teams with Leading DSL Semiconductor and Equipment Manufacturers to Accelerate Deployment of Dynamic Spectrum Management

Redwood City, Calif. - January 16, 2007 - ASSIA™ Inc., the world’s leading provider of Dynamic Spectrum Management (DSM) solutions announced today its collaboration with a number of leading DSL semiconductor and equipment manufacturers via the license of ASSIA’s RAPIDE and CHORALE DSM software interfaces. Licensees include Aktino Inc., Conexant Systems, Inc., Ikanos Communications, Inc., and UpZide Labs, AB, plus one other undisclosed company. The close collaboration with ASSIA will facilitate the deployment of Dynamic Spectrum Management with DSL operators worldwide and will deliver higher levels of DSL network performance. ASSIA’s DSL EXPRESSE™ is currently under trial at numerous DSL Operating Companies around the world.

“This is a significant milestone for ASSIA and the DSL industry,” ASSIA CEO J. Cioffi said. “This collaboration will ensure that DSM technology can be deployed more rapidly to improve DSL performance.”

ASSIA’s license partners had the following comments:

“Our partnership with ASSIA is an important component of our VDSL2 and MIMO product roadmap to maintain our leadership in the Broadband over Copper market. The combination of Aktino products and ASSIA’s products enable the full flexibility and power of DSM to be applied to the symmetric business segment of the DSL market,” says Bruce Kimble, CEO of Aktino.

“We’re pleased to support ASSIA‘s RAPIDE software solution, and provide our customers with another tool that will enable them to further boost the performance of our industry-leading DSL solutions,” said Cyrus Namazi, vice president of marketing for Conexant.

“Ikanos is focused on delivering the most advanced and highest performance triple-play VDSL2 solutions,” said Piyush Sevalia, vice president of marketing, Ikanos’ Access Products Group. “ASSIA’s RAPIDE technology is expected to enable carriers to improve service coverage and reduce carrier’s operating costs.”

“Our relationship with ASSIA, embodying DSM, VDSL2, and Vectoring VDSL, will be the road-map towards triple play over the Copper Network,” said CEO Mikael Isaksson of UpZide Lab, AB.

The RAPIDE management interface enables ATIS DSM compliance for DSL Equipment and Integrated Circuits. Deployment of such RAPIDE compliant equipment enhances DSL service provider’s Dynamic Spectrum Management capability. RAPIDE use with ASSIA’s DSL management software improves DSL performance and lowers operating costs. RAPIDE offers:

  • ATIS DSM compliant
  • Implements adaptive control of the PHY Layer configuration in a way that is compliant with the operator's profile choices
  • Circumvents limitations of existing DSLAM Operational Interfaces
  • Leverages and is compatible with TR-069
  • Enables optimal DSL operation on existing equipment

The next-generation CHORALE management interface further enables ATIS DSM level-3 DSL equipment and integrated-circuit compliance to support vectored DSL. CHORALE vectoring technology enhances VDSL2 capabilities through a novel and innovative form of interference cancellation between DSL users. CHORALE powered DSLAM and CPE equipment provides the highest possible levels of DSL performance and cost efficiency.
